I took some pictures with my camera, which I’ll upload tomorrow. Consider this a little sneak peek. We all loved the gifts. πŸ™‚ And check out that wrapping paper! I love it.

This week and next will likely be a little slim as far as posts go, but rest assured that we have some good things brewin’ for 2015. I can’t believe it’s almost here!

Wordless Wednesday

“I believe you have my stapler.”

Some years back, a friend gifted me a red stapler, just like the one from Office Space:

Turns out Sophie likes our red stapler just as much as Milton. I saw her rubbing all over it one day.

I tried to film this secret rendezvous but alas. She stopped the love fest as soon as I started filming. πŸ™‚

Monday and Tuesday are going to be crazy busy at work, in a good way. Just gotta make it to Wednesday and everything will be gravy.

Have a good week!

All tuckered out (and tucked in)

I’m having one of those days where I wish I was tucked in, much like these two small fries:

I think it’s this weather that’s making me want to snuggle up under a blanket with a good book and some kitties by my side. Alas, momma’s gotta work so the furkids can eat. Had a bit of a meh morning* but I’m determined to make it a great afternoon. So far it’s working! I advise turning on Pandora radio and having a bit of coffee. I’m gorging on Pandora, but I’m limiting myself to one cup of coffee. (Trust me, this morning I could have mainlined Starbucks, but I managed to show some restraint.)

Happy mid-week, all!

*Do you ever have “meh” mornings? How do you turn them around?

Upstanding again

I started this post last week, so I need to update it a bit. The gist was, last Monday I threw out my back. The furkids heard a lot of bad words last week. A lot. Let me tell you, you never realize just how low toilets are until you have lower back spasms. And getting out of the car was quite the ordeal. It took me three times on average. Naturally, someone had to pull up right in front of me so I had an audience. :p I can laugh about it now, but last week I seriously looked like a hula girl in mid-hula. As in, my left hip was permanently cocked out to the side.

Thankfully today I seem to be almost back to normal. I even celebrated with a half-hour walk! One thing that really helped was my awesome $4 thrift-store heating pad!

Looks kind of like a crime scene…

Don’t you love that picture on front? Looks kind of like the woman is past needing an electric blanket. And I liked these oh-so-’80s pictures on the side. Check out that sculpted hair!

I’m in awe of that hair.

At any rate, I managed to get to my desk a couple times (and then rued the moment I had to get up from the very low chair). Look who I found by my feet:

My little surprise guest Sophie.

She’s still not a snuggler, per se, but I’m finding she always seems to be close lately. This melts my heart. πŸ™‚

In looking at these and some other photos of late, it’s apparent I need a new camera. My mother has been saying for a fully year now that she’ll gift me her old camera but I’m tired of waiting. I’ve been using my phone camera a lot, but that seems to be going too. (The camera, not the phone itself.) Any suggestions for a good point-and-shoot or even DSLR camera?

Lazy weekends for the win

Things have been a little stressful for me lately (work changes, will they never end?). Thankfully, this past weekend I started putting up the Christmas decorations, which lifted my spirits. I don’t know about you, but sometimes winter is such a positive time. It’s nice to have a reprieve where you are forced to hole up a bit and slow down. Comfy gingerbread-themed fleece doesn’t hurt, either. πŸ™‚

This weekend I spent a lot of time on the couch, which I think the cats liked. As soon as I sat down, Grizzy started punching bread and when he had “softened” the blanket to his satisfaction, he’d curl up. Well, Miss Standoffish Sophie wanted to get in on the action, too! She would curl up beside me, which melted my heart. There is nothing better than being inside all nice and warm and having kitties all over you.

This picture is the aftermath of when I got up to answer nature’s call. They made sure to move over so there was no way I could sit in my old spot!

Sophie and Grizzy snoozing on the holiday blankets.

Look familiar? Different day, same spots!

Because I know you’re all dying to know about online dating, I decided to hold off on a bit. I’m just not entirely comfortable with putting all my info out there. I was even more non-thrilled when I received at least a half-dozen emails about “matches”–when I hadn’t even made my profile live! (I certainly hadn’t paid for anything.) One person even went so far as to ask me a bunch of questions, which seems odd considering they (supposedly) couldn’t even see my picture. Hmm. Also, I like how I got a screen of a dozen or so “matches”–but when I clicked on them, only about three were true matches and the other nine or so were “Sorry! these didn’t quite meet your specifications.” That bugged me because for $60, don’t pull that carrot-on-a-stick business. I’m not looking for perfection, but there are a few things I will not compromise.

I guess this all is a long-winded way of saying while I’m not totally against online dating, right now it’s not my jam. For now, I’ll stick to in-person dating. πŸ™‚

Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a wonderful day, regardless of whether you celebrate the American holiday. I had a really nice time at my sister’s house. I come from a big family, and I oftentimes feel like the black sheep of the family, so sometimes family events like that can be a bitΒ stressful. This was nice because it was the first year we were ever at my sister’s house, and if there is a sibling I would choose to spend time with, it’s my sis. πŸ™‚

I am also so thankful for these two little nuggets:

Holiday mash-up (with added nap).

Holiday mash-up (with added nap).

I went out the day after Thanksgiving and picked up this lovely fleece-y throw blanket (the one the cats are on). It’s covered with paw prints, and the paws are hearts. So sweet. And comfy! I also put up some of my Christmas blankets, and started packing away my Halloween/Thanksgiving blankets. I got as far as folding them up.

I’m sure I sound like a lot of people, but I can hardly believe the year is almost over. I’m feeling introspective already. It’s been a year of transition, I would say. Definitely a good year.

Totally unrelated, Thanksgiving and all the family stuff had me thinking about dating sites. Wait, let me back up. While I am comfortable and happy with my life, sometimes I think it’d be nice to find “the one.” And sometimes, like during holiday events, I feel awkward because my well-meaning family makes comments about this. So I decided to check out a dating site, even though I am extremely uncomfortable putting all that information out there. (Here, not so much; it seems like a safer community. :))

I got through all the goofy questions and tried to find a decent photo and then I see the price: $60! I’m not a skinflint but come on. So the profile will remain unactivated and I’m sure I’ll now be spammed from here until eternity from said dating site, lol.

Any of you have any dating site experiences you’d care to share, good or bad? Am I silly for feeling uncomfortable with it?
