The Rosie Bee

Starring Grizzy and Sophie

Vent sesh and gratitude

To last yesterday was awful was a complete understatement. I’ve had so much unfun stuff going on, with my grandma, and now other stuff has really got worse. It’s hard when people try to undermine you in completely false and awful ways. 😡 However, I have to say, the kitties are such a comfort. Last night I went to bed and it was cool but not really cold. Yet they laid on my legs all night. It was so wonderful to wake up and feel that weight; they made me feel a lot better about everything.

Then this morning Miss Sophie was full of energy, zip-zip-zipping all over the place. I was up at the crack of dawn so I let them out in the hallway and watched them run around.

Things still suck mightily–in fact, I read something this morning that has me seething mad–but I know it’s important to count your blessings, especially in bad times. And this morning I feel very blessed thanks to those two small fries (as well as some great friends!).

Thrifty Thursday – Pewta-Craft

One of the reasons I love frequenting thrift stores is you never know what you’ll find. You’ll also find things you never knew existed! Like this:

Not pewter, Pew-ta.

The name cracks me up. Pewta-Craft. Sounds so elegant! When you can’t afford real pewter, try Pewta! Exact same look and feel!

I did a search online and found little to nothing about this amazing craft. Given the image, I imagine it was popular around the bicentennial? Sad that such a great product seems to have fallen out of fashion. 🙂

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day!

Sophie and G (Sophie giving funny look)

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! I think every day should be every cat appreciation day, but I’m tickled to share this day. Life has been stressful lately but these two never fail to bring me a lot of peace and joy. 🙂 They help center me and make me more aware, which helps me appreciate all the good things in life. And to think we three have been a family for more than two years now! Given that my time with Rosie was cut short, this is a special milestone for me. I hope to celebrate many more Black Cat Appreciation Days with these two small fries.

PS: The look on Sophie’s face cracks me up! She seems shocked! hehe

Sophie’s Gotcha Month!

Sophie on the bookcase with toe floof

Chillin’ up high.

Yes, month. Whoops. See, what happened was last year I had it in my head that her Gotcha Day was a week *before* it actually was. This year, despite putting it on my planner calendar, I had it in my head that it was a week *after* her actual Gotcha Day.

Third time’s the charm, right? Next year I will be spot on!

That said, I feel so blessed to have my little Sophie girl. She’s always been sassy and a bit aloof, but more and more often she’ll cry and the do the flop so I can rub her belly. Or she’ll lie down next to me when I’m reading. So sweet! She is the one to wake me up 9 times out of 10, with this soft chirping noise. She is a floofy girl, which I love to no end. Sometimes when I’ve been gone for a while, I’ll come home and she’ll half-jump up so that I can give her a good headrub. Kind of like, “You will rub my head now, momma! And again! And again!”

That toe floof!

I call her tiny woman, my little girl, sophita-lita, little lita, small fry. But more than anything else, I’m so happy to call her my furbaby. 🙂

We’re still here!

Our nightly routine.

Things have been mighty quiet here, but kind of busy outside of the website. The beginning of the Toastmasters year is pretty busy to begin with, but I’ve been asked to address some issues within the club. Nothing that can’t be resolved quickly, but definitely a lot of meetings and planning. I’ve also been continuing to tidy up (I’ve been reading “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and while some of is is a little out there, a lot of it makes sense). And more than anything else, I’ve been trying to relax. It’s been a good summer, but a stressful summer (Grandma is going into hospice, I’ve juggling freelance work and day job work, etc.), so I’ve been walking more, reading more, and trying to appreciate things. Like my small fries!

I tell you, they bring me such joy. Lately when I get home from work I read for a bit. I lay on my bed and within minutes they’re both up there napping away. It’s so sweet. Pets are such stress relievers!

Anyhow…I’m still wrestling with transferring the site, although I did renew the domain, so it will happen! Fingers crossed that it happens before the end of August! My goal is I can then go back to regular posting. We do read, though! 🙂

Grizzy flopped out on bed

De flop.

The past few weeks have left me wiped out, much like the G-man above. But there are always good things, like my two small fries. 🙂 There are also good things called the weekend! So happy about that. I’m looking forward to a couple days of resetting and giving thanks for all the good in my life. I also hope to queue up some posts because my camera is filled with kitteh pictures that need to get on the interwebs!

Have a wonderful weekend!
